Date: 18/01/1998

Location: Mediterranean

From: ComEurFor

To: Commander TF 23

Situation:
Diplomatic relations between Libya and the United States have deteriorated and as of 0000Z time Libya has declared a state of war between the two countries. The United States has responded by expelling the Libyan Ambassador and mobilising it's Rapid Deployment Force. Egypt has decided that it will not stand by and watch Infidel Forces threaten stability in the Mediterranean and has offered any assistance Libya may need and has provided a number of bases and facilities at their disposal.
Libya, for the past few years has been developing their Chemical arsenal and this has become a major concern for the allied countries in that region. Intelligence has also gather information on a possible nuclear processing plant at the same location of their Chemical Plant. This will be your number one priority.

Mission:
Your Primary mission as Commander of Forces in the Mediterranean is to use all available resources to eliminate the Chemical Plant 70km south of Tripoli. Your Secondary is to inflict as much damage as possible on all enemy facilities located in Libya and if the situation arises, Egypt.

Execution:
Following in the footsteps of the 1986 Raid on Libya, aircraft from England will be use to eliminate the Chemical Plant. All other assets shall be use to suppress defences and provide a clear passage for the incoming strike aircraft. Once again France, Spain and key European countries have denied over flight of their territory so we will be following the original route taken in 1986. The Strike and Support aircraft will take off from England, travel south and skirt the French and Spanish west coasts, clear the Straits of Gibraltar, follow the coast of Algeria before turning south and attacking the Libyan Coast. Extra Support aircraft have been provided off the Southern coast of Spain and should be used were needed. At no point are U.S Aircraft allowed to enter European airspace to and from the designated target. Aircraft situated with TF23 are there as a precautionary measure in case Egypt adopts an aggressive posture and any U.S aircraft or ship is endangered. We do not expect any hostiles from Egypt but be on alert.

Administration:
Units assisting in the campaign are as follows:
3rd Airforce RAF Coltishall
48th OG 492nd FS F-15E
100th OG 351st ARS KC-135R
9th Recon Wing 4402nd RS Det 2 U-2R
49th OG 8th FS F-117A Det from Holloman AFB, NM

2nd Fleet, North Atlantic
CVBG Mitchel TF22.0 Flagship
CVBG Kennedy TF22.1

6th Fleet, Mediterranean
CVBG America TF23

Command:
As Commander of TF23 you will assume command of all forces operating in OP Reprise '98 in AO Med.

Good luck and God speed.

CinC EurFor.
